Cold weather, high winds and lots of rain put a slow down on the aggressive pre-spawn fish on Lake Sara in Effingham, Illinois for the 2008 season opener for the Illinois Bass Anglers.  Although the weather was extremely poor, all teams were able to put together strong enough patterns to bring fish to the scales. 

Fishing crankbaits through the weeds on main lake points allowed the Blumenstein brother to put together a 12.51lb limit good enough for first place.  Included in their limit was a stout 4.66 pounder that secured Big Bass honors also. 

With four fish weighing 6.74lbs Tom Katsakis and Kevin Goffron grabbed second place.

 Third place went to Jeff Cole and Mike Stephenson with two fish weighing 4.30.

 Mark Fosterud and Curtis Newton also had two fish weighing 3.09 lbs.
