Illinois Bass Anglers
Lake Geneva, Wis
August 26, 2007
Rain, rain and more rain puts a “No Wake” on the Illinois Bass Anglers season finally on Lake Geneva. A three foot raise in water forced the closing of the lake completely for the weeks prior to the tournament and only No Wake boating was allowed during the official tournament days fishing plans had to be adjusted. With less the eight pounds separating the top three teams for the coveted Angler of the Year title, this was slated to be the biggest contest of the year. Fortunately, for the winning team of Jim and Bob Blumenstein, the high sun pushed the Largemouth deep under what few covered docks that remained on the lake due to the high water. Their shallow water presentation of Sinko’s and Shakey Head Jigs accounted for their entire six fish 16.92lb limit, including 3.5lb Big Bass of the day. The win also secured the 2007 AOY title for the Blumenstein boys. Jim and Bob are sponsored by Reliable Color and Chili’s Grill and Bar in Bolingbrook. With their deep water finesse bite, the team of Kurt Schumacher and Kevin Seme brought in the only other six fish limit weighing 13.16lbs. Kurt and Kevin are sponsored by CheerLiters Sports Bar&Grill in West Chicago and Johnson Boat and Motor in Morris. Third Place went to Dan Borkowski and Bob Bobich with 4 keepers weighing 8.04lbs. Dan and Bob are sponsored by Kastilic Canvas in Plainfield and Gino’s East of Naperville. Mark Fosterud and Kliff Shinn weighed 3 fish totaling 5.95lbs. Curtis Newton, fishing solo weighed 2 fish totaling 3.59lbs. Bud Edmonds, also fishing solo weighed 1 fish weighing 1.25lbs.
